Chennai: Vistara Airlines on Tuesday clarified that the mother and a four-month-old infant, bound for Delhi from Chennai, were not de-boarded by its crew members.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami was also travelling in the same flight to Delhi when the mother and her infant were de-boarded as the infant kept crying non-stop yesterday afternoon.

In a statement, a Vistara spokesperson said “this is with reference to the story about a pax and her infant getting offloaded in MAA from a flight to Delhi. The story states that the mother and the infant were de-boarded by the crew members.”

“But, actually the mother volunteered to de-board the flight concerning about the health of her baby; they haven’t de-boarded by the crew members”, it said.

“Vistara would like to confirm that a lady passenger travelling with her husband and daughter (infant) on our flight UK 838 from Chennai to Delhi on January 18 had requested to deboard the aircraft with her daughter, soon after boarding was completed,” the statement said.

The request was made since she was concerned about her daughter’s health as she was continuously crying. “Our crew and ground staff extended full support to the passengers, while ensuring all relevant protocols were followed”, it said.

“Safety and comfort of all our customers is our utmost priority which was highly appreciated in this case by the passenger and her family”, the spokesperson said. (UNI)
