Mumbai: 7 dead, 39 injured after fire breaks out in 7-storey building

Mumbai: At least 7 people were killed and 39 injured after a fire broke out in Mumbai's Goregaon 7-storey building in the wee hours of Friday, officials said.
 
According to fire bridge sources 46 people were rescued from the blaze that erupted around 3 am at Jay Bhavani building, on MG Road, near Azad Maidan.

Maharashtra Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha says, "It is an extremely unfortunate incident... A high-level inquiry committee will be formed which will submit its report within 15 days. The Maharashtra government will bear all the treatment expenses of all the injured. The Maharashtra government will declare compensation for the deceased by this evening... Best medical facilities would be provided to the injured..."  (Inputs from agencies)
