Mumbai: Police have registered an offence against a 54-year-old school teacher for allegedly molesting a female student during lunch recess under the pretext of helping her with homework and mathematics, an official said here on Sunday.
The shocking incident reportedly occurred on June 20, between 2 PM and 2:30 PM.
According to the police, the complaint was filed by the victim's mother, who resides in the Kanjurmarg area of suburban Mumbai. Her daughter attends a local school where the 54-year-old accused teaches mathematics.
On June 20, the teacher reportedly called the victim girl over to assist her with homework and solving math problems, and used the opportunity to allegedly make illicit advances.
The horrifying details came to light when the young girl returned home from school and confided in her mother about the incident.
Personnel from the Kanjurmarg Police Station have registered an offence under Section 75 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act, and Sections 8 and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
