Chennai: Music maestrao A R Rahman and 13 other good samaritans were on Friday presented the ‘Alert Being’ awards, 2020.
The event was hosted by ALERT, a non-profit organisation working to ensure ‘Right to life’ a reality in India, according to a release.
ALERT Being Award is an honour to good samaritans and celebrating humanity by awarding real life heroes, who have helped save or preserve life from different walks of life across the following categories--individuals, organizations and people going beyond the call of duty.
The awards were presented by Health Secretary Dr J RadhakrishnanGreater Chennai Commissioner of Police Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal.
Rahman, the Mozart of Madras, was presented the "Alert Being Icon Award" as an Individual and the ALERT Being Icon award for the organization was presented to the Biocon Foundation founded by Ms Kiran Mazumdar Shaw.
This year, a special category the ‘Alert Being Covid warriors’ was included to appreciate warriors who put their best during the sudden onset of a pandemic, which none knew how to handle.
These brave hearts tore through the inevitable to assist those embroiled in a calamitous event.
A total of 30 COVID Warriors were honoured with Alert Being Covid Frontline Warrior for their contribution during pandemic. (UNI)
