New Delhi: On a day of fast paced developments in politically sensitive Uttar Pradesh, rift within the ruling Samajwadi Party widened as the party supremo removed his son and state Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav from the party state president post and appointed his younger brother Shivpal Yadav. In a quick but apparent follow up action, young Chief Minister divested Shivpal Yadav, his uncle from important portfolios and effected reshuffle in his cabinet. Shivpal Yadav has been left with the social welfare department and some other less important departments.
The hot paced developments had begun this morning when the state government removed state chief secretary Deepak Singhal from the coveted slot and appointed Rahul Bhatnagar in his place. Political and power corridors were agog with various speculations which also hinted that Mr Singhal was close to Shivpal Yadav, so he was shunted out. Eyes riveted towards the political family in the state which is slated to go for polls within six months.
However, the Chief Minister had the last laugh for the day when he took away all important departments like PWD, Irrigation and flood Control, Revenue, cooperatives, relief and rehabilitation and public administration. Now Shivpal will have departments like Land Development, water resources and a new department of Social Welfare was given by the Chief Minister.
According to official sources here tonight while Chief Minister had kept the important PWD with himself, but has allotted irrigation and flood relief to Awadhesh Prasad as an additional charge and Balram Yadav has been given additional charge of Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, cooperatives and public administration. The Chief Minister has also announced to hold press conference tomorrow afternoon, to announce some projects of PWD. (UNI)
