Bengaluru:The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has advised Mysuru City Corporation and Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Limited (KRIDL) Executive Engineer to remove the bus stop with mosque-like shelter as it is illegal and has developed communal propensities.(Symbolic Pic)

It also gave a week's time to remove the controversial structure. The NHAI issued the notice to respondents, a day after Pratap Simha, BJP MP from Mysuru-Kodagu constituency, threatened to raze down the controversial structure, claiming that they looked like domes of a mosque.

It also said the bus stop was constructed even though many times its engineers had stopped the work as per law. "In this connection it is advised to remove the structure constructed to achieve controversial kind of issues which is not acceptable," it stated in a notice issued on Wednesday.

The NHAI threatened to take action if the controversial structure is not removed in the stipulated time. "Since it has developed communal issues, this may be treated as notice, otherwise as per the National Highway Administration Act, action will be initiated," it said.
Earlier, BJP legislator SA Ramadass had claimed that the design of the structure was modelled on Mysuru Palace and to conserve Mysuru city's heritage. The bus stop falls under Ramadass' Krishnaraja assembly constituency.(UNI)
