Chennai:All the six accused, arrested for their alleged involvement in the car blast in front of the Sangameswarar temple in Coimbatore on October 23,were remanded in judicial custody till November 22.
Amid tight security, all the six--Muhammad Azharudheen, Afsar Khan, Muhammad Thalha, Muhammad Riyas, FirozIsmail and Muhammad Nawaz Ismail--were produced before NIA Special Court at Poonamallee here and remanded in judicial custody.
The accused, who were brought from Coimbatore Central Prison late last night and lodged in Puzhal Central prison here, were today produced before Special Court Judge Ilavazhagan, who remanded them in judicial custody.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA), which has been entrusted with the probe as the incident revealed terror angle, is expected to file a petition before the Court seeking custody of the accused for further questioning.
Henceforth, all further proceedings in the case will be held at the NIA Special Court here and the accused were brought from Coimbatore and produced before the court.The car blast, in which a radicalised IS suspect Jameesh Mubin was killed, sent shock waves across the State and following recommendations from Chief Minister M.K.Stalin the probe was transferred to the NIA after Special Teams of Coimbatore arrested the six accused within a day after
