Srinagar: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) today conducted raids at several place in the Kashmir Valley in connection with terror funding, official sources said. They said NIA carried out searches at 14 places in Kashmir in connection with funds being received from Pakistan for carrying out subversive activities in the Valley. Raids, which started early this morning, were going on when the reports last came in, they said.
Today’s raids followed after questioning of three separatist Nayeem Khan, who was seen on television sting operation allegedly confessing to have been receiving money from Pakistan, Farooq Ahmed Dar alias 'Bitta Karate' and Gazi Javed Baba of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, in the national capital last month. Khan head of National Front (NF) was suspended from the hardline Hurriyat Conference (HC) after the exposure. After the sting operation, the NIA registered a Preliminary Enquiry (PE) which has now been converted into a Regular Case (RC) last evening. (UNI)
