Note ban has hit terrorists hard: Rajnath Singh

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today said demonetisation can not immediately end terrorism, but this step of the Government has reduced the strength of terrorists and naxalities. In an interaction with media persons, the Union Home Minister said, ' I can say on basis of intelligence outputs and information received from banks that demonetsiation has increased the problems of terrorists and their strength has reduced. Many accounts have been seized.' Responding to a question, Mr Singh said in his tenure there was a reduction in incidents of terrorism and naxalism.
 

On asked whether demonetisation will help the Government in polls, Mr Singh said the decision was not taken in keeping in political gain and loss. On asked whether the Union Government has sought a report from Karnataka Government over Bengaluru New Year’s eve molestation case, Mr Singh said the Centre does not seek report on every incident. He, however, said protection of women was the responsibilty of the State Government. On a question related to the tussle between the Centre and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Mr Singh said the Union Government does not do politics of confrontation and if required there would be talks with the West Bengal Chief Minister.
