Odisha: Narrow escape for 50 passengers as driver suffers cardiac arrest

Balasore: About 50 passengers from West Bengal had a narrow escape due to the presence of mind of the bus driver, who suffered a massive heart attack and died near a tourist spot in Panchalingeswar in Balasore district on Monday night.
 
According to reports, the driver parked the vehicle near Patpur Petrol Pump after he felt unwell and fell unconscious while on the steering.
 
Passengers, bus staff, and some local people immediately took the driver to Nilgiri Hospital, where doctors declared him ‘brought dead’.
 
A U/D case has been registered, and an investigation is on, Nilgiri police station IIC Gopal Chandra Karna said.
 
He said the driver was around 40 to 45 years old and was from Shibpur, Howrah, in West Bengal.
 
All the passengers were safe, and the tourist company that arranged the trip had been informed about the mishap, the police said.
