Odisha: School headmaster gets 5 years jail term for outraging modesty of Class X girl student

Balasore: Special judge POCSO Ranjan Kumar Sutar has convicted a headmaster of a government-run primary school on the charge of outraging the modesty of a minor girl student of his school and sentenced him to 5 years RI along with a fine of.Rs 3000.
 
The judge ordered that in default of the penalty the convict would further undergo another 6 months jail term.
 
The convict identified as Ganesh Chandra Sahu, Headmaster of a primary school, had molested a class X girl student when she was sent to fetch water to school premises.
 
He threatened the girl student with dire consequences if she disclosed the matter to anyone.

The victim, however, disclosed her ordeals to her parents and her father complained to Singla police in 2020. The accused was arrested and tried under several relevant sections of IPC and POCSO.
 
The accused headmaster was convicted under section 10 of the POCSO Act, Special Public Prosecutor Pranab Panda said.
