Old man murdered over suspected witchcraft in Gumla, two arrested

Gumla: An old man was hacked to death in Parsa Nawatoli village under Raidih police station area of this district over suspicion of practicing witchcraft.

Upon receiving information on Thursday police team reached in the village and arrested to culprits. The arrested have been identified as Sudhir Munda and his friend Chotu. Police said Sudhir Munda is the prime accused in the case.

The deceased has been identified as Ranthu Munda (70). The son of the deceased said that few days earlier sister of Sudhir had died due to illness after which Sudhir suspected his father of practising witchcraft.

On Wednesday night the deceased was with his family members when Sudhir under the influence of liqour accompanied by his 7-8 others dragged Ranthu Munda out of his home and killed him by using an axe. (UNI)
