A Dalit man was brutally beaten and stabbed to death on a busy road in Hyderabad for marrying a Muslim woman against her family’s wishes.

The incident took place at around 9 pm on Wednesday, May 4. The couple who were riding on a two-wheeler were blocked by two men and they attacked him with iron rod.

Several bystanders captured the incident in their phone. Many video have gone viral on social media platforms. Viewer discretion is advised.

The victim, B Nagaraju, is a 26-year-old man of the Mala community, categorised as a Scheduled Caste.

Nagaraju’s wife, Syed Ashrin Sulthana, said the two had been in a relationship for a long time. Nagaraju even approached her family expressing his intention to marry her but they declined the proposal.

“He even told my mother that he will convert to Islam, but still they never accepted the proposal,” Ashrin said.

As Ashrin’s parents did not agree to their proposal, the couple got married on January 31 this year in an Arya Samaj ceremony in Hyderabad.

“Last night around 8.40pm, a boy was killed in Saroornagar area. The boy who was murdered had done an interfaith marriage. The girl's brother didn't like his sister marrying a person of another faith. They thrashed him with rod & knife which led to his death,” ANI tweeted quoting ACP LB Nagar.
