New Delhi: Speaking out for the first time after she received rape threats for her post on social media on the Ramjas College incident, Gurmehar Kaur, a student of the varsity today said that no matter who you are, no one has the right to scare a woman with rape. Talking to reporters, the Kargil war martyr's daughter said,"This is not a political movement. Its about the students of the campus. No matter who you are, one cannot threaten a woman with rape." "Tomorrow, we are organising a peaceful march. (Pic- Twitter)

I appeal every students to join it. We don't want any 'hooliganism' in the campuses of the Universities and across the country," she said. Meanwhile, taking cognisance of Gurmehar's complaint, Delhi Commission for Woman chief Swati Maliwal said that strong action should be taken against the culprits. "Police must take action against those boys giving rape threats to Gurmehar Kaur and set an example," Ms Maliwal told reporters here.

Earlier this morning, Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju wondered who is "polluting" the mind of young student Gurmehar Kaur, who had said her father was not killed by Pakistan, but 'war' killed him. "Who's polluting this young girl's mind? A strong Arm Force prevents a war. India never attacked anyone but a weak India was always invaded," Mr Rijiju said in a tweet. The campus turned into a battleground last week after ABVP activists had scuffles with left-affiliated AISA over invitation to JNU leaders Umar Khalid and Shehla Rashid to speak at a seminar in Ramjas college.
