Mumbai: The price of petrol in Mumbai was record high on Monday at Rs 86.56 per litre, the steepest in any of the other major metro cities.
Three months back on May 29, it was Rs 86.24 per litre. Diesel, too, touched a new high of Rs 75.54 a litre here.In Delhi, the petrol price touched Rs 79.15 per litre increased by Rs 0.31 per litre.
Diesel, too, hit a new high of Rs 75.54 per litre (up by Rs 0.44 per litre) in Mumbai and Rs 71.15 per litre (up by Rs 0.39 per litre) in Delhi on September 3.Along with rising crude oil prices in the global market and weakening Indian Rupee which sank to Rs 71 per US dollar days ago too pushed the petrol prices up.
On the steep rise, Uday Lodh, of Federation of All-Maharashra Petrol Dealers Association said rising crude oil prices in international market and sliding the Indian currency against the Dollar are the two main factors of the spurting price of of diesel and petrol.(UNI)
