Thiruvananthapuram: In the wake of widespread goonda attacks and murders in Kerala, police arrested 13,032 goondas in the state-wide raids and seized 5,987 mobile phones from them.
Raids were conducted in 16,680 places by the special action team which led to the arrest of numerous absconding accused and other anti-social elements, including historysheeters and accused in various assault cases.
"The raids were conducted between December 18, 2021 and January 9, 2022," a release here said on Tuesday evening.
"Action has been initiated against 215 people under the Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act (KAAPA).
Bail granted to 61 people has been cancelled citing violation of bail conditions, the release said.
Earlier, State DGP Anil Kant had directed to monitor the camps of migrant labourers following sporadic incidents of violence reported at Kizhakkambalam in Ernakulam district, and political murders in the state.
He also directed to take stern against anti-social elements, goons and those who indulge in trafficking of illicit gold, narcotic drugs and hawala money. (UNI)
