Ex-serviceman suicide: Police detains Rahul Gandhi and Manish Sisodia

New Delhi: Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi was detained today by the police when he tried to enter the RML Hospital to meet the family of ex-serviceman, who allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison here at Jantar Mantar over the One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme.

Addressing reporters here, Special Commissioner MK Meena said, 'It is a hospital and not a place for demonstration. Rahul Gandhi was detained for trying to enter hospital despite being advised otherwise.'

Delhi Police today detained Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia at the local RML Hospital here, where he had gone to meet the family members of an ex-serviceman, who had allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison over the One Rank One Pension (OROP) demand.

Mr Sisodia was detained along with Cantt MLA Commando Surrender by the police while they were speaking to ex-serviceman Ram Kishan Grewal's family at the hospital. The ex-serviceman had left a suicide note, in which he mentioned that he was taking this extreme step for the benefit of the soldiers. (UNI)
