Patna: The security personnel resorted to lathi-charge upon CTET and BTET aspirants in which nearly 25 aspirants sustained injuries who were protesting for not being allowed to join the 7th phase of the teachers recruitment process.
The aspirants in large numbers were agitating since morning on Monday in the state capital Patna.
They took out a protest march from the historical Gandhi Maidan and shouted slogans against the newly formed grand alliance government in the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The security personnel deployed at the main Dark Bangla crossing did not let them move forward following which both had a heated exchange.
After ding dong battle between the security personnel and the agitating aspirants, the police resorted to lathi-charge to disperse the mob. Nearly 25 of them sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the hospital.
An agitating woman aspirant said that the newly inducted Deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Prasad Yadav while remaining in opposition had assured them to initiate immediate steps to provide them with the job.
She said now when Tejasvi is in power he was lingering on their demands. She said that the grand alliance government was adopting the delay tactics.
The aspirants said that when they made demanded job from the education minister, they were being asked to wait till 2024.
A viral video is being widely shared on social media which shows ADM thrashing a protestor who is holding a Tiranga. Sharing the video, the Bihar unit of the BJP targeted the Nitish Kumar-Tejashwi Yadav government.
Reacting on the video, Bihar deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav said an investigation had been ordered into the incident. “The lathi charge was done to control students taking out a protest march in Patna wherein the ADM was thrashing a STET candidate. Enquiry committee made; strict actions will be taken against him, if found guilty," he was quoted as saying ANI.
“Students are requested to be patient. We are working on solving their issues. We have been fighting for jobs. We have announced on 15th August that 10 lakh jobs will be given,” he further said in an assurance to the students,” he added. (Inputs from agencies)
