Police lodge FIR against family members of Geelani for putting Pak flag on his body

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police has registered First Information Report (FIR) against the family members of separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani, and others for putting a Pakistani flag on his body and raising anti national slogans.

Geelani, 92 died at his Hyderpora house after pro-longed ill on Wednesday night. He was laid to rest on Thursday morning at a local graveyard at Hyderpora.

Officials sources said when the body of Geelani was being taken out from the house family members and others present there raised anti national slogans and a Pak flag was put on the coffin.

A case FIR has been registered in police station Badgam in central Kashmir against the family members of Geelani and others.

However, the family members alleged that police snatched away the body of Geelani buried it silently.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) refuted the allegation and said Geelani was buried in presence of his family members. (UNI)
