Jalandhar: Policemen deployed at a naka near Gita Mandir in Urban Estate Phase-II thrashed the CEO of Haweli restaurant situated at Jalandhar-Phagwara highway on Tuesday morning.

In a complaint submitted to the Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, the CEO DK Umesh alleged that after noticing that some police men on motor cycles were passing near the naka without wearing masks, he asked the policemen deployed at the naka to stop such law breakers who have been posing a serious threat to the public already reeling under third phase of COVID-19 pandemic.

Instead of listening to his advice, they thrashed him in the full public view and threatened to book him for creating hindrance in their official duty.

The police commissioner ordered the suspension of both the police personnel besides ordering a departmental enquiry against them. (UNI)
