Post Poll speech: PM Modi sees emergence of a 'new India'

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the mandate in the just concluded elections in five states have brought in a paradigm shift in Indian politics and he sees this as an emergence of a 'New India'. "I see emergence of a new India," Prime Minister told a gathering at the party headquarter here.

He was speaking after being felicitated at the party office by enthusiastic party workers and supporters in presence of BJP chief Amit Shah and senior leaders and Union Ministers like Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley, M Venkaiah Naidu and Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Prime Minister said people in these elections have proved quite emphatically that they participate in elections not to get something.

"They do not want freebies, but the people of this country want opportunities from the elected government wherein they want to work hard and march on," Mr Modi said. He said time is ripe to bring in drastic improvement in the living conditions of the poor and said improvement in the quality of life of the poor will help eradicate the burden faced by the aspirational middle class.

Prime Minister also a dig at political rivals for questioning on why he is working so hard. "Nothing can be more satisfying than this," he said in obvious reference to election campaign in Uttar Pradesh when political leaders from Samajwadi Party and Congress who had taken potshots at his style of functioning.
