Prayagraj: Four policemen, including an Inspector, were suspended after a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker was allegedly killed during stone pelting by some unidentified persons in Bahariya area in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj district.

Station Officer Ramesh Kumar Singh on Monday said that BJP workers were celebrating the party's victory in assembly elections by playing songs of a DJ in Newada village on Saturday night when some unidentified persons pelted stones.

A BJP worker, Satish Chauhan (20), was grievously injured in the stone pelting and died during treatment on Sunday, he said.

The officer said that alleging partiality by the police, BJP workers staged a protest at the police station.

"On the complaint of the Divisional President of the BJP Scheduled Caste Morcha, an FIR was lodged on Sunday night," he said.

He said that Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Kumar has suspended Inspector Bahariya Ravi Prakash, Sub-Inspector Sanjay Yadav and two personnel Vikas Upadhyaya and Deen Dayal Dubey. (UNI)
