New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party today declared its support for the Congress-led Opposition’s candidate, Meira Kumar in the Presidential election. "Party's Political Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting was held to discuss on Presidential election.
The meeting was chaired by party's national convener Arvind Kejriwal and after long discussions, the Committee has decided that AAP MLAs and MPs would vote for Opposition's candidate Meira Kumar," senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh told a press conference here.
He also said that if the election of President and Vice President was held through mutual consent of both Ruling and the Opposition, then the democracy would become stronger.
Seventeen opposition parties have fielded Ms Kumar as their joint candidate in the Presidential election against NDA nominee Ram Nath Kovind. Polling for the Presidential elections will be held on July 17 and the counting of votes to be taken up on July 20. (UNI)
