Banda: A prisoner in the high security Banda district jail escaped on Sunday evening, the jail official said.
BSP MLA and mafia don Mukhtar Ansari is also kept in this jail.Circle Officer (CO) City Rakesh Singh said here on Monday that the prisoner, Vijayarakh, who was lodged in the jail since February 16 last year, was found missing during the counting of inmates on Sunday evening.
The missing prisoner was in the jail for robbery and dacoity.During the investigation, it was found that he had his food in the barrack number 4B and then went to drink the water. Since then, he was found missing.
He said that according to the officials, the prisoner could be hiding somewhere in the jail itself.
But after hours of search, he could not be traced.After the incident, the police have beefed up the security in the prison.(UNI)
