Jalandhar: Prominent Punjabi singer Diljaan (31) was killed in a road mishap near Jandiala Guru on Jalandhar-Amritsar national highway, about 45 km from here, early Tuesday morning.
The car of the singer turned turtle after it rammed into a divider, police said.
Diljaan died on the spot before he was rushed to a hospital by passers-by.
As per sources, the car was at a very high speed and before ramming into a divider, it hit a stationary truck near the Jandiala Guru Bridge.
Diljaan had gone to Amritsar on Sunday evening on a business tour and was returning to Kartarpur in the morning. The body has been sent for post mortem, the SHO said.
A native of Kartarpur town in Jalandhar district, Diljaan will be cremated after his family returns to India from Canada, sources said.
Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh expressed shock over the accident. “Shocked at the tragic death of young and promising Punjabi singer Diljaan in a road accident earlier today. It is extremely sad to lose young lives like these on road. My condolences to the family, friends and fans. RIP!,” the chief minister wrote on his official twitter handle. (UNI)
