New Delhi:  Mocking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement that post-Independence, the BJP had faced more adversities than the Congress leaders and freedom fighters under the British rule, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi today tweeted a prayer asking for freedom from ignorance for him (Modi). "Modiji a prayer for you: "Asatoma Sadgamaya Tamasoma Jyotirgamaya Mrityorma Amritam Gamaya Om shanti shanti shanti. "Lead me from ignorance to truth - from darkness to light - from death to immortality.

Let there be peace for all living creatures,’’ Mr Gandhi said in a series of tweets. Speaking during the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the BJP’s new headquarters here yesterday, the Prime Minister said no other political party in India had suffered so much opposition and hardship as the BJP. “The BJP will be the only party which has faced adversities since its birth. It faced difficulties at every turn and its every effort was seen in bad light. Even during the British times, the Congress would not have faced so much adversity that we, our dedicated workers, have gone through in 50-60 years,” he said. The Congress slammed the statement, charging the PM with ‘trivialising’ the freedom struggle and insulting the freedom fighters and demanded an apology from him on the matter.(UNI)
