Chikamagaluru: Even though most of the members have not even seen the new Rs 2000 currency note released by the Reserve Bank of India two days ago, a fake note has already appeared in the market defying the main purpose. The union government had withdrawn Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes in its bid to root out black money money hording besides fake currency. The incident has taken place near Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) yard here.

A shopkeeper has today stated that a customer who came to purchase grocery has paid the fake Rs 2000 denomination note which was faked by using a colour photo copying machine. The worker who took the note was not aware that it is a fake note and he cannot remember who gave it. It was printed in colour zerox machine.

Though it resembled the new currency it was lacking security thread and other security features. A complaint was filed with the Police who are investigating about the source and Bank from where the original note of the similar serial number was issued. (UNI)
