New Delhi: A day after Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi tweeted that he stands by his words against the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, the RSS asked him to clarify which words he stands by about the organization -- the ones that he filed in his affidavit in the Supreme Court or ‘the lie’ uttered in his public speech.

Senior RSS functionary Dr Manmohan Vaidya, asked Mr Gandhi to clarify his stance, a day after the Nehru-Gandhi scion said he stands by every word of his comment against the Hindu outfit made in Bhiwandi in 2014 that ''RSS people killed Gandhiji''. ''Stand by every word I said about RSS: R Gandhi. Which words, in an affidavit filed in court or the "lie" uttered in public speech?

'' Dr Vaidya asked. This reference of the Congress leader to the RSS had led to the filing of a criminal defamation case by one Rajesh Kunte, in a local court of Bhiwandi. Two days ago, senior counsel Kapil Sibal, appearing in the Apex Court on behalf of Mr Gandhi, said the Congress had never accused RSS as an institution for the crime (assassination of Mahatma Gandhi.) "My client meant to point at individuals associated with the RSS", Mr Sibal said.

Welcoming Mr Gandhi's statement in the court that he had never blamed the RSS as a whole for the assassination of Gandhiji, Union Minister and senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu, in a sarcastic tone, had said that he hoped, the Congress vice-president would learn some wisdom. On the other hand, the Congress had asserted that the party vice-president had not toned down on his stand on the RSS and stands by his words that the Father of the Nation was killed by a person who was associated with the RSS.
