Nagpur: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) is providing security at the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh headquarters in Nagpur (Maharashtra) beginning September 1, sources from the RSS office confirmed here on Tuesday.
About 150 security personnel, including officers, replaced the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) and Nagpur police which provided security to the Sangh headquarters for 15 years, said the sources.
The cover was sanctioned by the Union Home Ministry based on inputs shared by central intelligence agencies, sources said.
The development came on September 1, the same day the government abolished more than 3,000 CISF posts as part of a security overhaul at Indian airports.
It said non-sensitive duties would be rendered by private security personnel aided by smart technology tools for surveillance and protection at the airports. (UNI)
