New Delhi: Ahead of the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, the high-stakes split in the ruling Samajwadi Party in the state echoed in the Supreme Court today. A caveat was filed in the Apex Court by SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav stating that without hearing the side of Akhilesh Yadav group, it should not pass any order. The caveat further stated that if the aggrieved party, SP founder Mulayam Singh Yadav or erstwhile state party unit chief Shivpal Yadav, come with a plea, or to seek relief, without 'hearing our side, the Supreme Court should not pass any ex parte order.'
The development came a day after the Election Commission of India declared that the bicycle symbol would go to Akhilesh Yadav-led camp for the upcoming February-March election. Ram Gopal Yadav, who is from the Akhilesh group, stated that their side should be heard before passing any order if the other camp-led by Mulayam approached the top court for relief. The Akhilesh Yadav camp apprehends that the aggrieved party, led by Mulayam Singh Yadav might knock the doors of the Apex Court for relief. (UNI)
