Sanjay Nirupam resigns as Mumbai Congress President

Mumbai: Mumbai Regional Congress Committee (MRCC) president Sanjay Nirupam today tendered his resignation from the post following party's debacle in Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) polls. Speaking to mediapersons here Mr Nirupam said 'as a MRCC president he has accepted the mandate given by the citizens of metropolis, I have tendered my resignation to party top leader, accepting responsibility of party's debacle in corporation election.' He said this debacle was because of party's internal dispute.
 

Without taking names of any leader, he said people of party worked for debacle of Mr Nirupam. Here I (Mr Nirupam) am not important, we have to work for the party...If this dispute continues further, party will suffer more, he said. Mr Nirupam said that party high command was aware about internal dispute in MRCC. Congress has bagged less seats than 2012 in corporation election.  (UNI)
