New Delhi: The Supreme Court today quashed the criminal complaint filed against Indian Cricketer Mahinder Singh Dhoni for allegedly depicting himself as Lord Vishnu in a magazine cover. A three judge bench headed by Justice Dipak Misra, quashed the criminal complaint registered against Dhoni in Ananthapur in Andhra Pradesh.

The bench was hearing the petition filed by Dhoni seeking quashing of the criminal complaint filed against him. "The allegations doesn't remotely constituted the offence," the bench said, in its order and quashed the criminal complaint registered against Dhoni. The apex court also made it clear that if we order to keep the trial alive, it would be travesty of justice.

The allegations of section 295-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) have not been established in this case, and thus we were of the opinion to quash the criminal complaint against the petitioner.
