New Delhi: The Supreme Court suggested that a political solution be worked out in the Kashmir valley, where around 70 people have been killed, in turmoil, following the July 8 slaying of Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani by security forces in an encounter.

A three-member bench, comprising Chief Justice T S Thakur and Justices A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud, during hearing on a writ petition filed by Jammu and Kashmir Panthers Party convenor Bhim Singh, said political solution to the issue should be meted out as not every matter can be solved by the top court interference. The apex court told the petitioner to meet responsible officials of the Centre in this regard and submit suggestions. Solicitor General, Ranjit Kumar, assured proper arrangements in this regard. The next hearing in this case will be on August 26. (UNI)
