New Delhi: Joining the list of those supporting the name of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat for the post of President, senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Jaffer Sharief has said no one should have any objection to the consideration of Mr Bhagwat’s name for President. Sources said in a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mr Sharief said he personally felt that nobody should have any objections to Mr Bhagwat’s name for the post of the President of the country.

“There are different schools of thought in India and it is but natural for such a vast country. Mr Mohan Bhagwat may belong to one school of thought but there should not be any doubt about his patriotism, love for the people of India and loyalty to the nation,” Mr Sharief said in his letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It is notable that the Shiv Sena had demanded that Mr Bhagwat should be made next President of the country.

Mr Bhagwat has, however, said he is not in the race for President. The Shiv Sena has said it is in favour of Mr Bhagwat’s name as President because of his clean image and the fact that he is the face of Hindutva in the country. It is notable that the terms of President Pranab Mukherjee is coming to an end on July 25. (UNI)
