Senior Servitor held for sexually harassing a minor servitor

Puri: A senior servitor of Mahalaxmi temple located inside the Sri Jagannath temple complex was arrested by Lion’s gate police on Friday for alleged sexual harassment of a minor servitor.
According to the complaint filed by the father of a minor servitor who has poor eyesight used to come to the temple to render his services assisted by his minor son.

One day the accused Laxminarayan Khuntia, a senior servitor of Mahalaxmi temple, allegedly forced an attempt of unnatural sex with the minor and he has been sexually and mentally harassing the minor on threat since last so many days.

He narrated his ordeal to his father who had filed complaints with the temple administration and district collector besides with Lions gate police station.

Lions gate police station inspector Sunil Pradhan said a criminal case has been registered and the servitor Laxminarayan has been arrested under 377, 294, 506 of IPC and 6 of POCSO Act and forwarded to the court of SDJM.The father of the victim has sought police protection for his family.(UNI)
