Sitamarhi: Seven police personnel and a dreaded Maoist were killed when a prison van in which they were travelling was hit by a speeding truck on Sitamarhi-Muzaffarpur road under Runnisaidpur police station area in the district late last night. Police said here today that the mishap took place when 15 cops were travelling? with two dreaded Maoists - Sohag Paswan and Hemant Kumar, lodged in Bhagalpur Central Jail on the prison van for their production in a court here.
While seven police personnel and the Maoist Sohag Paswan were killed on the spot when the truck coming from the opposite direction hit the prison van, eight cops and another Maoist were critically injured in the incident. The injured have been admitted to Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital in Muzaffarpur, police added. (UNI)
