New Delhi: The JD(U) today replaced senior parliamentarian Sharad Yadav as the party's leader in the Rajya Sabha, party sources said. He has been replaced by Ram Chandra Prasad Singh, a former civil servant, sources said. The final decision apparently tilted in favour of Mr Singh, as he is known for being close to the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and hails from Nalanda.
Mr Kumar had represented Nalanda Lok Sabha constituency in 2004 and when he moved as Chief Minister the seat was passed on to Ram Chandra Prasad Singh. The axing of Sharad Yadav, a former JD(U) chief and also a former NDA convenor, comes a day after Nitish Kumar made it clear that Mr Yadav had to abide by party's decision to ally with the BJP. (UNI)
