NewDelhi: In a shot in the arm for the Congress ahead of the Assembly elections in Punjab, former BJP leader Navjot Sidhu’s wife Navjot Kaur Sidhu and former Indian hockey captain Pargat Singh will join the party on November 28, Punjab PCC chief Amarinder Singh said today.
'I am pleased to announce that Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu and Pargat Singh will formally be joining Congress on November 28,' Capt Singh said in a statement. There have been speculation in recent weeks about the former BJP leader and ex-Rajya Sabha MP Navjot Singh Sidhu being in talks with the Congress.Mr Sidhu had recently quit the BJP and formed a separate political outfit 'Awaz-e-Punjab' along with former Indian hockey captain.
