NOVEL SCHEME: Sikkim police to keep vigil on houses when owners are away temporarily

Gangtok: Sikkim Police has launched, "House Watch", a novel scheme for the safety of residents leaving home for sometime.

'It is to assure house owners of the safety of their property and to prevent theft, The police will check the house regularly,' said Superintendent of Police, Soreng District, West Sikkim, J.Jayapandiyan.

According to the SP, it is a pilot initiative. The owner is expected to inform the police before leaving his residence temporarily. The police would confirm the safety of the house to the owner after checking the property.

Live GPS location would be WhatsApped to the owner. But the owner is required to fill up a form in advance. They can also do it on the Facebook page of Soreng Police. (UNI)
