Saharanpur (UP):A case has been lodged against three sons and nephew of former Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLC and mining mafia Haji Iqbal alias Balla on charges of gangrape, a senior police officer said.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr Vipin Tada said while sons of Haji Iqbal, including Ali Shan, Javed and Afzal are already in jail, his nephew Shahban alias Dilshad (26) was arrested on Friday.
Circle Officer of Mirzapur Hriday Narain Singh said the incident happened in March this year. "The woman, a resident of Bhajanpura in New Delhi, has alleged that she contacted the sons and nephew of Haji Iqbal in Nand Gokal University for a fake degree," he said.
He said the accused arranged accommodation for the women in Gokal University. "While one woman went to Delhi back to bring her certificates, the other one stayed back. It is alleged that the accused gangraped the second woman. The victim gave a written complaint against the accused," he said.SSP Tada said Shahban was arrested on Saturday and sent to jail. (UNI)
