New Delhi: A stampede like situation was witnessed at a recruitment rally held by the Indian Navy at INS Hamla in Malad area in Mumbai this morning. The situation was brought under control by the local police and the Navy officials, an official spokesperson told UNI here.

The recruitment rally was organised for Senior Secondary Recruits with an unexpected number of volunteers turned up leading to chaotic situations. "We were expecting a good response from volunteers. However, the response was overwhelming and crowd control created a bit of confusion in the early hours," the spokesperson said, adding that the situation was subsequently handled very efficiently by the local police and Navy officials. The recruitment drive was going on smoothly as the last report came in. (UNI)
