Hyderabad: Recent studies have suggested the presence of gold in cow urine, a senior Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader in Telangana said on Sunday, urging animal lovers to participate in the cow protection movement that "goes beyond politics".

In a statement issued here, Pagudakula Balaswamy, VHP publicity head, Telangana, said the responsibility of cow protection extends not only to his outfit and Bajrang Dal, but to every Hindu individual.

He further highlighted the presence of numerous social activists and voluntary organisations working in the name of animal welfare. While these groups express outrage over the deaths of dogs, cats, and rats on the streets, they remain silent when it comes to the unlawful killing of cows.

Balaswamy questioned the inconsistency and stressed the crucial role cows play in agriculture, being the backbone of the rural economy.

Additionally, he mentioned that the dairy industry's growth is directly tied to the well-being of cows. Moreover, he emphasised the medicinal properties attributed to various cow products such as milk, curd, butter, ghee, urine, and dung, as concluded by scientists.

Balaswamy stated that hurting the sentiments of Hindus who rever cows as Gomata (the mother of the three deities) is an act of evil. He called for the strict enforcement of cow slaughter prohibition laws and emphasised the need for stringent action against cow killers to protect the environment. (UNI)
