New Delhi: India today warned Pakistan of very adverse consequences for bilateral relations if the death sentence against Indian national Kulbhushan Jadhav, a retired Navy man, awarded by a military court of that country is carried out.

'This will be premeditated murder,' External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said in a statement in the Lok Sabha after the members agitated over the Pakistan's action strongly raised the issue.

'I caution Pakistan to consider the consequences of any such action on our bilateral relations,' the External Affairs Minister said while asserting that no wrong had been committed by Jadhav. 'He is the victim of Pakistan's plan to deflect international attention from its terrorist activities,' Ms Swaraj said.

She said Pakistan had violated all international norms by denying consular access to Jadhav despite repeated requests by the Indian High Commission. (UNI)
