Mangaluru: Giving more priority on law and order, Karnataka BJP President Nalin Kumar Kateel on Tuesday urged party workers to talk more on a major issue like Love Jihad than minor ones like drainage and roads.

"More than the minor issues like roads and sewage, I urge the party workers to highlight more on major issues like Love Jihad. It is a question of your children's future, if you have to get rid of love jihad, you need BJP in power," he said, addressing an event organised by BJP.

This statement comes in the wake of the gory murder of Shraddha Walkar, who was cut into 35 pieces before being disposed in the nearby forest areas of New Delhi.

Shraddha's father had alleged that her daughter was a victim of Love Jihad.

Similarly, Kateel's statement also comes in the wake of actress Tunisha Sharma's death case where her mother Vanita Sharma also had given the Love Jihad angle to it. She had alleged that Sheezan Khan had pressured her daughter to convert to Islam. However, the family oif Sheezan have refuted these claims.

Kateel said BJP is the only party that can bring a law against Love Jihad, just as it did against forced religious conversion and cow slaughter.

He also launched a scathing attack on Karnataka Congress President DK Shivakumar for his statement in support of a terrorist. He had questioned the state government for booking Mangaluru blast accused before the police could initiate an inquiry.

If Shivakumar becomes chief minister, terrorists will have a field day, and the laws on cow slaughter and anti-conversion will be withdrawn, Kateel said.

"You must think, who do you want, a Savarkar or Tipu Sultan? BJP has put Savarkar in Suvarna Soudha in Belagavi. Only BJP can spread the contributions of Savarkar," he said.

Reacting to it, Shivakumar said BJP is not looking at development and only at the hatred and dividing the country. (UNI)
