Madurai (Tamil Nadu): A highly decomposed body of an unidentified woman was found wrapped in a plastic gunny bag at a secluded place near Kizhavankulam irrigation tank on Avaniyapuram-Echaneri road on Tuesday.
Acting on information from the locals that a foul smell emanating from an abandoned plastic bag, a police team went to the spot and recovered the body of a woman in her 40’s, said a senior police officer.
The corpse was removed to Government Rajaji Hospital morgue for post-mortem.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased victim might have been murdered a couple of days ago, as the body had begun to decompose.
Perungudi police have registered a case and are investigating to ascertain the identity of the woman.
