BJP seeks help from Meghalaya CM for damage control in Manipur

Imphal:Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma and Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma held talks with Chief Minister N Biren and other leaders as NPP and three BJP MLAs withdrew support from the government.
The NPP President Thangminlien Kipgen said even though BJP-led Government in Manipur was formed in 2017 with five other political parties, BJP ran the government in an autocratic manner and refused to form the Steering Committee in order to build confidence among the coalition partners.He alleged absence of a Common Minimum Programme based on the aspirations of all the allies.
 
The NPP had proposed a "Common Minimum Programme" for the development of the state on priority basis however it could not be materialized inspite of repeated reminder to the Chief Minister, Kigpen stated.
 
BJP refused to give a name to the coalition and the constituent coalition partners were not consulted in taking the decisions of the government, he said.
 
The NPP President was not informed about the removal of portfolios by CM from DY CM Y Joykumar, he alleged.S. Rajen Singh, Spokeperson of BJP kept issuing statements asking the NPP to withdraw support if they dare. 
 
He said the BJP also didn't consult the partners while nominating candidate for Rajya Sabha polls.The NPP with four MLAs had supported the BJP with only 21 MLAs to form the government.
 
The demand of Congress, NPP, AITC and an Independent MLA to conduct a floor test has not yet been accepted. The SPF formed by Congress and its allies has requested the Governor to conduct floor test .(UNI)
