New Delhi: External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has said that 10 Indian nationals died and six injured were taken to the hospital after the Narjan fire mishap. Mohammed Noor Rahman Sheikh, the Indian Consul General in Saudia Arabia, is in touch with Governor of Najran, Prince Jluwi bin Abdelaziz bin Musaed, officials said. "Our Consul General is in touch with the Governor of Najran. He is updating me on regular basis," she said in a tweet. "I am aware of the fire tragedy in Najran in which we have lost 10 Indian nationals and six injured are in the hospital," Ms Swaraj wrote.

Police in southwestern city of Saudi Arabia - Najran - said 11 people have been suffocated and six injured in a fire that ripped through a windowless house they shared at a farm. Those hurt and killed in the blaze were all from India and Bangladesh, the civil defence said, according to a report in Arabnews.com. Region's Governor Prince Jluwi bin Abdelaziz bin Musaed ordered the formation of a committee to investigate the fire incident.

Prince Jluwi expressed extreme resentment at the absence of control over foreign workers' residences and the role of field teams of the Civil Defence and the Municipality, reported the Saudi Press Agency, adding that these entities must stop companies renting out buildings which are unfit for living, the news report said.
