Terrorist Yasin Bhatkal’s mentors sentenced for life

Mangaluru: A local court here today slapped life sentence on three suspected terrorists in a case relating to abetting Yasin Bhatkal in serial blasts of 2008. City Sessions Court Judge S H Punshpanjali had convicted them on April 10 reserved the sentence for today.
 

The Judge had acquitted four others arrested. Those sentenced were Sayyed Mohammed Naushad, Indian Mujahideen (IM) operator and prime accused in the serial blast in Surat and Ahmedabad in 2008, Ahamed Bava Aboobakkar and Fakeer Ahamed alias Fakeer under section 16, 17 and 18 of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, Section 9 (b) of the Explosives Act,

Section 5(b) of the Indian Explosives Substances Act, Section 25 (A) (A) of the Arms Act and Section 120 (b) of the Indian Penal Code. Those acquitted included Mohammed, his son Javed Ali, Mohammed Rafeeq and Shabeer Bhatkalalias Shabeer Moulvi. (UNI)
