Thiruvananthapuram: Terrorists choose Kerala as their recruitment base, State DGP Loknath Behra said on Sunday.
Terrorists target highly educated youths in the state to accomplish their agendas across the world," the DGP said this in an interview conducted by a news channel.
"Terrorists recruit educated youths from Kerala and use them for unlawful activities. I am not disclosing much details on the issue," the DGP added.
Kerala Police is capable to handle any kind of threats and anti-national activities. As police is taking strict measures against such threats including those from Maoists, Keralites do not worry, he added.
Responding to an allegation that the DGP was acting as a bridge between Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre, Mr Behra said such allegations were baseless and politically motivated.
"The Chief Minister is very professional. For the last five years I worked with Mr Vijayan, who is not bothered about the Opposition allegations. He is professional and we used to discuss only administrative matters," he added.
On the urgent need of curbing smuggling activities in Kerala, the DGP said he forwarded a proposal in this regard to the government on the lines of laws implemented by Maharashtra.
He also said he was 'disappointed' for not being appointed as the CBI Chief even after getting the highest score in the selection process. (UNI)
