This artist is giving traditional fabric painting a cool make-over
‘Painting is just another way of keeping a diary’- Pablo Picasso
Taking an inspiration from the above quote, Nidhi Agrawal, a young hand painting artist, decided to redefine the traditional art of fabric painting with her label ‘Sulit Creations’. After pursuing a corporate job post MBA, Nidhi developed a liking for hand painting as a hobby which gradually shaped into her passion and eventually a full-time career.
During her formal training and practice, Nidhi noticed that the art was restricted to only traditional old designs and thus received a minimal interest and business in present times. Being a part of smart young generation who is aware of global trends, dynamic preferences, Nidhi came up with an idea of designing quirky and cool stuff on fabric which is relatable and relevant to the young fashion lovers. The execution of this idea, in turn, resulted to her own label ‘Sulit Creations’ which is managed by her end to end. Right from sourcing material to designing, Nidhi is doing it all with full enthusiasm.
Sulit is a one stop destination for getting hand painted and 3D designed quirky clothes, accessories & home décor items. The inspiration of design comes from nature, surroundings, experiences or the world around. Nidhi believes that an individual fashion sense is a reflection of one’s own personality and hence she tries to design as per customized requirement that comes to her. The latest designs and collections of the label are regularly updated on social media pages like Facebook and Instagram.
What makes Sulit and Nidhi’s art interesting is the deep understanding of hand painting, colors, current trends and individual requirement. From bollywood to wedding, ayurveda to Physics, any type of themes or specific requirements can be created in a cool way at Sulit. Its sheer passion and hard work of Nidhi that she has a big customer base and followers in metros apart from small towns. Sulit showcased a successful collection in an exhibition last year and is expected to exhibit more quirkiness, style and coolness quotient in an upcoming exhibition in the city.
